DELAYED COKER - CRAY PROJECT

The project consisted in the construction of a new delayed coker, at the Amuay Refinery, to increase the plant’s deep conversion capacity from 34,000 BPD to 100,000 BPD of heavy crude to obtain high-quality products like propane, butane, naphtha, distillates, and fuel grade coke. Tecnoconsult also executed the engineering for associated and feed services for others units in the refinery, including:

  • Design of a new 1,450-GPM demineralizing plant;
  • Installation of two new 25-MW turbo generators to satisfy the power demand increased
  • Expansion of the sour water treatment unit and construction of storage tanks,
  • Modifications to an amine unit
  • Design of a coke transportation system with a 5-km long pipe conveyor and a ship loading terminal, both with a capacity to handle 1,000 ton/hour of coke.
